Mibu no Ookami out of the Pen!

There's not much here yet, however there are other portrayals of Saitou in the big screen and the small tube (which I'll get to -eventually-).

Shinsengumi Keppuroku

I present to you Shinsengumi Keppuroku's Saitou that was shown in TV Asahi back in 2000. Shinsengumi Keppuroku was adapted from Shiba Ryotaro's novel of the same name. Although I'm not especially happy about how much screentime nor plot involvement of Saitou in this TV Series, it stands enough on it's own that the chanting in my head... "Not enough Saitou... Going to smash the TV" left my head. ^__~

Saitou is pretty much non-existent in this one. He only appears in a few episodes where one he assasinates Takeda Kanryuusai and the other with Hijikata instructing him to spy on Itou's splinter group. I was even surprised at his ending where it says "Saitou Hajime dropped out". It's not really clear whether it's an incorrect translation or if perhaps they alluded to another controversy in history that he somehow opted to leave the Shinsengumi. Amongst Japanese fans this is highly debated between Saitou and Hijikata supporters. Well of course we don't know the truth ne? So let's give them and the show the benefit of the doubt.
